CVR moves up four places in EAMCET 2020 first phase counseling

CVR has moved up four places during the recent EAMCET 2020 first phase counseling to reach the Top 5 in the entire state. It is the youngest college among the Top 5. This achievement reflects the rapid strides that it has made on various fronts including accreditations, innovative teaching learning processes, record placements, and offering of new courses involving the latest technologies.

*Data prepared by third party showing opening and closing ranks of the most preferred courses

During EAMCET 2019 first phase counseling, CVR was preferred as the 9th but actually closed in the Top 6 after the final phase counseling last year. We expect that the students and parents prefer CVR in the top 3 or 4 colleges in the final phase counseling of EAMCET 2020 coming up shortly.

The academic community and several ranking agencies including NIRF already rank CVR in the top 2 or 3 colleges in the state as mentioned on the main page of the college website. These rankings are done mainly based on the outcomes of the college rather than input preferences alone.

Department of Emerging Technologies

True to its vision of “In pursuit of Excellence”, CVR College of Engineering was the first college in the State to introduce M.Tech programs in Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences, well before AICTE could recognize them as emerging areas. Continuing the trend, CVR College pioneered a new B.Tech course in Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) in the year 2019, the brainchild of our Chairman. CVR was the only college in Telangana to do so at that time. The new course brought the best of both CSE and IT together providing CSIT graduates more opportunities than the graduates of CSE and IT courses. The emerging areas included in the new program have been identified by the national level committee as part of National Perspective Plan for Engineering Education and accepted by AICTE. Also, the courses provide employment and research opportunities in these areas. The department was renamed as Department of Emerging Technologies (ET) in 2022 and now also includes the UG programmes in AIML, Data Science and Cyber Security.

The program is designed with an intent to educate the engineering students on the emerging areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT) and Data Sciences (DS) by introducing them as core courses. The program also educates the students with the related courses like statistics, R Programming, Big Data Analytics & Platforms, etc. Further, each student can choose from various streams in their professional electives that includes cutting edge technologies like Cyber Security (CS), Blockchain technologies, NoSQL Databases, Social Media Analytics, Neural Networks & Fuzzy Systems, Deep Learning and many more.

The Department has 12 laboratory units consisting of 360 systems, catering to the B. Tech curriculum. The systems use standard licensed software as a college policy including open source.

Head of the Department:

Dr. H. N. Lakshmi – Professor and Head of ET, has more than 22 years of teaching experience. She has completed Ph.D (CS) from University of Hyderabad in 2016 and M.S (Software Systems) from BITS, Pilani in 1999. Her areas of interest include Web Services, Analysis of Algorithms, Data Structures and Programming. She has authored more than 15 research papers, one book chapter in Springer, out of which 5 papers are DBLP and 9 are Scopus indexed, and have around 20 citations.
