Review Process
Once the paper is submitted to the Journals, it will go through the following review process to decide the acceptance of the paper.
- Editorial Assessment
The journal checks the paper’s composition and arrangement against the journal’s Author Guidelines to make sure it includes the required sections and stylizations. As a major work, the editorial assistant will also perform the plagiarism check. If the plagiarism is less than 25 –30 percent, then it will be taken for further processing, otherwise at the initial stage itself the paper will be rejected. The quality of the paper is not assessed at this point.
- Appraisal by the Editor
The Editor checks that the paper is appropriate for the journal and is sufficiently original and interesting. If not, the paper may be rejected without being reviewed any further.
- Editor Assigns an Editorial Board
The editor assigns the papers to the Editorial Board who handle the double blind peer review. They are the experts from the different field. They appraise the different aspects of the paper and submit a review report about the paper.
- Journal Evaluates the Reviews
The handling editor considers all the returned reviews before making an overall decision. If the reviews differ widely, the editor may invite an additional reviewer so as to get an extra opinion before making a decision.
- Decision
The journal editor or editorial board considers the feedback provided by the peer reviewers and arrives at a decision. The following are the most common decisions that are made:
- Accept without any changes (acceptance): the journal will publish the paper in its original form.
- Accept with minor revisions (acceptance): the journal will publish the paper and after the author makes the corrections.
- Accept after major revisions (conditional acceptance): the journal will publish the paper provided the authors make the changes suggested by the reviewers and/or editors.
- Revise and resubmit (conditional rejection): the journal is willing to reconsider the paper in another round of decision making after the authors make major changes.
- Reject the paper (outright rejection): the journal will not publish the paper or reconsider it even if the authors make major revisions.
