Design and Crash Analysis of a Passenger Car using ANSYS Workbench

Abstract

In this paper, an automobile (car body structure) was designed and analyzed which can be used for travelling of the passengers and goods. The car body structure is made of aluminum and the crash analysis is performed on the car body structure to know how the car body structure deforms in a crash accident. Crash analysis is performed on car body designs for ensuring safety of passengers in accidents. A detail car body deformation analysis has been performed in ANSYS based on 3D LS-DYNA. A frontal impact crash of a car is performed. A Finite Element model of a car structure was used in a crash simulation to assess the safety and to know crashworthiness of the car.
