Department of Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is as old as the Pyramids of Egypt and is the basic branch of engineering which can provide basic infrastructure such as Buildings, Highways, Railways, Airports, Dams, Bridges and Hydro power plants to any developing country. Development of infrastructure with environmental concern is considered as a measure of progress of any Country. Civil Engineering deals with the Analysis, Design, Quality control, Construction, Operational and Maintenance aspects of both natural and artificially built structures.

The department was established in the academic year 2011-2012 with an intake of 60 B.Tech. students and the intake was increased to 120 from the academic year 2013-2014. At the same time, department also offers M.Tech. programme with specialization in Structural Engineering with an intake of 24 students. Civil department is the seventh academic department to have been established in the college.

The department has well equipped state-of-the-art laboratories for Surveying, Soil Testing, Cement and Concrete Testing, Highway Material Testing, Quality Testing of water and Waste water samples.

The Civil Engineering Association formed by the students for the benefit of students to impart additional knowledge in the field of Civil Engineering apart from the prescribed curriculum by organising Guest Lectures (by Professors from IIT, NIT, BITS, IIIT, Premier Universities & Industries), Technical Quiz, Workshops,  Model Making Contests and also to develop the organising capabilities among the students.

The department has faculty members from all specializations of Civil Engineering like Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Construction Management.
